IS IT TIME FOR A HEATING TECHNICIAN?

At times it is easy to know when to call Told Plumbing.  A yearly maintenance call may revile a problem before you get water all over, or wake up to a cold house.  By simply cleaning the boiler and adjusting the gas pressure to manufactures specs you can reduce your gas bill.

  • COLD SPOTS : If you have an area in your house that is cold, when the rest of the area using the same thermostat, the solution is typically  to bleed the air out of the system.

  • COLD EVERY WHERE: When the entire area being monitored by a thermostat is cold, the problem is most likely a zone valve or a pump problem
  • NOISY PUMP: Needs oil, bad bearings, rust build up in the volute.
  • CLEAN BOILERCleaning the boiler on a regular basis will help the boiler run more efficiently.  Many boilers are equipped with roll out sensors searching for exhaust and flame roll out caused by a dirty heat exchanger.

  • ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS: From shorts to burnt fuses, electrical problems can be tricky to find.  They are normally easy to fix once they are located.

  • NO WATER PRESSUREMost boilers are equipped with a automatic fill valve, on occasion these valves can stick, and in some cases many need replaced.

  • RELIEF IS LEAKING: This is a symptom of a bad expansion tank problem.  In most cases this requires changing the expansion tank.  When the boiler relief has leaked it is a good practice to change the relief to ensure it does not continue to leak
  • WHAT ABOUT THE QUESTAR GREEN STICKER: By asking to have a green sticker check your appliances you will insure the correct amount of gas is sent to your appliance.  This gives you a clean safe flame.
